Any advice on how to securely wipe a hard drive before sending to trash?

Any techies out there who can offer good advice on how to securely wipe a hard drive before it gets recycled or sold or sent to the trash?

How about phones or game consoles?

  1. I know this is old, but if the drive is going in the trash or to recycling, smash it to bits with a hammer. Bounce it off some concrete. Once it sounds like broken glass inside, you’re good.

As for resale, the harddrive isnt good to anyone broken. But it isnt good to most people just erased either because without an operating system, its useless to most people. The best solution is to have a computer sales and service store wipe the harddrive clean a few times and then reinstall the OS.
